Atlético Madrid will extend João Félix’s contract until 2027 before he completes a loan move to Chelsea, according to Marca.
The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour with Diego Simeone and Los Colchoneros have been looking for a way to offload the Portuguese forward this January.
Before the player leaves Atlético to join Chelsea there are still a few things to iron out. The operation involving the Premier League side will be a loan deal without an option to buy.
The Portuguese player’s contract expires in 2026, but Atlético want to extend it to 2027. When his contract situation with the Spanish club is resolved, it will be possible to announce his loan move to Graham Potter’s Chelsea side until 30 June 2023.
Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United have both been linked with a move for the forward, who featured in Atlético’s 1-0 defeat to Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday night.
