Atletico Madrid are looking to sign Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto in the summer transfer window (h/t Diario AS).
Angel Correa is set to part ways with Atletico after the Club World Cup. He has reached an agreement to join Mexican club Tigres on a free transfer.
Los Rojiblancos manager Diego Simeone wants to sign a replacement for the Argentine international, who has been at the club for a decade.
The Spanish giants have set their sights on Alberto, who plies his trade alongside their former player Memphis Depay.
The 24-year-old has grown into one of the most prolific strikers since moving to Corinthians from Russian outfit Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2022.
He finished as the Brazilian Serie A’s top scorer in the 2023/24 campaign, bagging 31 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
He has followed up with 13 goals this season, including the decisive strike against Palmeiras in the finals of the Paulista.
Alberto’s incredible form has also drawn interest from Europe’s top clubs, including AS Roma, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His valuation has soared to more than €50 million, which could prove to be a stumbling block for Atletico.
Simeone’s side are currently working on the signings of Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso and Villarreal’s Alex Baena, whose transfer costs could exceed €100 million.
With a deal for Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson in the works, Atletico might struggle to afford Alberto’s price tag.
Moreover, a high-profile No.9 is not a priority, given their stacked forward line consisting of Julian Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth and Antoine Griezmann.

Atletico instead should target low-cost signings who can add depth to their attack.
Colchoneros are off to the worst possible start in the Club World Cup after losing 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in their opening game.
They will face Seattle Sounders in a must-win clash on Thursday.
