Athletic Club have been dealt a double blow on the personnel front, in the buildup to their upcoming meeting with Celta Vigo.
As much was made official across the club’s website and social media platforms late on Tuesday evening.
Ernesto Valverde’s troops are primed to mark their return to action on Wednesday night, when they make the trip to Balaídos, for a La Liga meeting with the aforementioned Celta.
Athletic’s efforts to get back to winning ways at the expense of their hosts, however, will come sans the contributions of two important players.
As revealed in a statement on the part the Basque giants, both Iker Muniain and Nico Williams will be unavailable for selection later this evening.
This comes owing to respective injury problems suffered in training over the last couple of days:
“The players Iker Muniain and Nico Williams will not travel tomorrow with the rest of their teammates as they are absent from the squad against RC Celta de Vigo. Iker Muniain suffers from a bruise on the quadriceps of his right leg. On the other hand, Nico Williams suffers an overload in the hamstring muscles of his right leg. Evolution is pending.”
