Alavés star Andoni Gorosabel has on Friday made public his decision to depart the club in the summer.
The subject of defender Gorosabel’s future has for some time now represented a subject of heavy speculation at Mendizorroza.
As much comes with a number of clubs from across the Spanish football landscape having long been expressing a keen interest in his signature.
Front and centre are Athletic Club, whose efforts to source a new option on the right of the club’s backline have led them to Alavés’ star performer.
Ahead of a predicted upcoming move to the Basque Country, Gorosabel himself has today in turn announced his decision not to renew his expiring contract in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
The 27-year-old’s Glorioso journey will come to an end after a solitary season, across which he has managed 33 La Liga starts to date.
In an official release across the club’s website and social media platforms, Gorosabel confirmed:
“Taking advantage of the fact that it is the last home game and that there are two games left, I wanted to inform the Deportivo Alavés fans that it is time to separate our paths. It has been an incredible experience for me, it has been an incredible year. I have been very comfortable. It has been an honor to belong to this club and wear this shirt. I’ve given everything every time I’ve gone out on the field and I am very grateful.”
