Roma have secured a major reinforcement for their attack, as Donyell Malen is set to undergo his medical examinations in the capital today.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Dutch international is arriving from Aston Villa on a loan deal that includes a mandatory purchase clause. The financial structure of the operation is significant, with the Giallorossi set to pay €5 million for the initial loan period, followed by an obligation to redeem the player’s card for €20 million. Additionally, the deal includes €3 million in performance-related bonuses, bringing the total potential package to €28 million.
The negotiations were accelerated by external pressure, as Atletico Madrid had emerged as a serious competitor for Malen’s signature. This interest from the Spanish giants proved to be a decisive factor, pushing Roma to finalize the agreement quickly to avoid losing out on their primary target.
With the medical tests scheduled for today, the former Borussia Dortmund man is poised to become a key figure in the Giallorossi’s frontline for the remainder of the season and beyond.
