Aston Villa Eyeing Move to Sign Fulham Star Harry Wilson

Fulham attacker Harry Wilson has garnered various plaudits from fans and pundits alike for his efforts this season – and that has reportedly seen Champions League-chasing Aston Villa keep tabs on a potential move for his talents.

The Cottagers star has been at Fulham for five years, and although he’s popped up with some vital goals in their Premier League spell, he’s already on track for his best top-flight season in terms of output despite being in January.

That has seen clubs report their interest in the Liverpool academy graduate, with Wilson’s contract running out at the end of the campaign – and Villa are one of those eyeing up a move for the 67-cap star.

The report by BBC Sport states that Wilson’s talks with Fulham over a new deal are on hold, amid growing Premier League interest in his services after some solid form in the Premier League.

The ‘incredible’ Welshman is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Cottagers are yet to reach an agreement for his extension, despite making the scenario a priority.

Wilson has seven goals and four assists in just 21 Premier League games this season, making him one of the leading stars in a season that has thrown up various surprise stars.

It’s thought that Wilson would prefer to have ‘clarity’ on Marco Silva’s future before he commits to a new deal, especially given that the Portuguese boss has said there is ‘zero chance’ of Wilson being sold in the coming weeks.

However, that hasn’t stopped other clubs expressing an interest. Aston Villa are one of those, with Unai Emery’s men monitoring his situation before the February 2 deadline, with Tammy Abraham also expected to sign in that time.

A number of English and European sides are expected to join the race for Wilson’s signature if he leaves on a free transfer, whilst Fulham have held talks with Manchester City over a move for Oscar Bobb in the event of Wilson departing.

Should the Norwegian move to the capital, that would free up more of a reason for Wilson to depart.

Villa currently have Morgan Rogers in their ranks, and he can play out wide, though that is usually off the left. Emi Buendia would be a main rival for Wilson in terms of game time, as would summer signing Evann Guessand.

But the Ivorian has been underwhelming this season, as have loan signings Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott.

That would create a clear pathway for Wilson to shine in the West Midlands.
