AS Roma reach agreement to sign PSG outcast Leandro Paredes

AS Roma are closing in on the signing of Leandro Paredes after finalising an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, claims Foot Mercato.

Talks between the two clubs have picked up pace over the last few days, whilst the Argentine has already given the green light for his return to Stadio Olimpico.

The Argentine midfielder spent two years at Roma before moving to Russian giants Zenit St.Petersburg.

Deeming him surplus to requirements, PSG have been trying to offload Paredes this summer since his return from an underwhelming loan spell at Juventus.

Turkish giants Galatasaray showed concrete interest, but the 29-year-old wasn’t interested in the move.

The report adds that the transfer operation will cost Jose Mourinho’s side around €5 million, and Paredes will put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Paredes has racked up 117 appearances with Les Parisiens, playing a big part in three Ligue 1 titles.

He has also been a regular for the Argentine national team, winning the Copa America in 2019 and FIFA 2022 World Cup.

Paredes has been earmarked as a replacement for Nemanja Matic, who is inching closer towards joining French outfit Rennes in a deal worth €3m.

Giallororssi have also been locked in negotiations with PSG for midfielder Renato Sanches, who is not in the plans of Luis Enrique.

An agreement is closer to being reached, which would see Sanches move to Stadio Olimpico on loan with a purchase option worth around €12m.

Mourinho is pushing to wrap up the two signings from the French capital club ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

Roma will be taking on Salernitana in their opening encounter this Sunday.
