AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara undergoes tests after Adam’s apple injury

When AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara (20) was stretchered off late on during the Principality club’s 3-0 victory over AJ Auxerre on Saturday, the nature of the injury was unclear. L’Équipe have now provided clarity.

Camara, since his summer move from FC Metz, has excelled in the heart of the Monaco midfield, alongside captain Denis Zakaria. However, he was forced late on after a minor collision. It has now been revealed that Camara was hit in the Adam’s apple. Knocked out by the impact, he was forced off on a stretcher.

The Senegal international underwent tests on Monday, which L’Équipe understands proved to be reassuring. Monaco are therefore now awaiting a diagnosis from a FFF doctor, in line with concussion protocol, to understand whether their midfielder did indeed suffer a concussion and whether they will be able to field him in the UEFA Champions League, against Barcelona, on Thursday.

Should Camara be prevented from participating, Soungout Magassa and Aleksandr Golovin are the alternatives at Adi Hutter’s disposal.
