Arsenal’s Thomas Partey to miss Champions League semi-finals first leg against PSG

Arsenal holding midfielder Thomas Partey (31) will be suspended for the Champions League semi-finals first leg against PSG, as reported by L’Equipe. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have arguably produced one of their finest performances in the Champions League in defeating holders Real Madrid on their own Santiago-Bernabéu turf. After humbling Los Merengues 3-0 at home, the Premier League side put more misery on Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti by winning the return leg 2-1.

Thomas Partey has been shown a yellow card by French referee François Letexier after tempers flared with Antonio Rüdiger in the dying minutes of the game. The Nigerian international was one of four Arsenal players, with Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli, at risk of getting a one-match suspension if they were to enter Letexier’s books.

Partey will therefore miss the first leg against PSG, which will be held at London’s Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, April 29. No PSG player will be suspended for the first leg against Arsenal.
