Premier League side Arsenal are scouting Atalanta forward Mateo Retegui.
According to a report by Calcio Mercato, Arsenal scouts were present in Switzerland last night during Atalanta’s Champions League match versus Young Boys to probe Mateo Retegui’s performance. The Italian striker’s brace in the match is expected to send a clear message to The Gunners that they are gunning for the right player.
La Dea have set a price tag of €45 million for Retegui as they aim to make a profit on their purchase from Genoa last summer. The 25-year-old has become a first choice for Luciano Spalletti’s line-up for Italy’s matches and he has seen a meteoric rise in value since arriving at Genoa from Tigre.
Serie A sides Napoli and Juventus are also in the race for Retegui but it is set to be a tough transfer battle with their Premier League counterparts, who possess significant financial firepower.
