In a recent report, Goal.com mentioned that Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Barcelona keeper Neto, who is planning to leave this summer. It has been claimed that the Gunners are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Brazilian goalie.

Neto’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football

Neto has played a sporadic role at the Nou Camp as he has served as a decent backup to Marc-André ter Stegen. The 32-year-old has made four appearances for Barca this season, conceding five goals in the process across multiple competitions.

The one-time Brazil international has done well to average 1.0 clearances and 10.7 long balls per game in La Liga.

He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 79.5% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Is Neto A Good Fit For Arsenal?

Neto can be a safe pair of hands in goal but needs a change of scenery if he wants to taste more top-flight football in the coming seasons. He is a solid handler of the ball and usually passes the ball relatively well out from the back. Neto has decent reflexes that help him make a few solid saves inside his penalty box.

At 32, the Brazilian keeper has still got a few years left in his locker to play at a high level and could help Arsenal cope with fixture congestion better in the future. Hence, Neto will be a good fit for the North London club as he has what it takes to serve as an ideal backup to Aaron Ramsdale at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta has got enough experience to unlock the best out of Neto who will undeniably increase competition for places within the Spanish head coach’s squad. However, the Brazilian keeper might need some time to ease into life in Premier League football.

Thus, Neto will be a decent fit for the Gunners to consider this summer. His current contract with Barca expires at the end of next season, so Arsenal might have a shot at landing him on a cut-price deal during this summer transfer period.
