Arsenal’s interest in Youri Tielemans has reportedly cooled as they look to secure other targets this summer.
The Gunners are expected to announce the signing of Fabio Vieira very soon – perhaps even in the coming hours. The Portuguese star is their second incoming of the window so far following the arrival of Marquinhos last week.
Edu has also been very busy reportedly negotiating deals for Leeds United winger Raphinha, Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez. The two Brazilians on that list are said to be fairly close to signing, whilst Arsenal are expected to go back in with further bids to Ajax for Martinez after their first approach for the defender was rejected.

For a long time, however, it was suggested that Tielemans was high-up on Arsenal’s priority list. football.london previously reported that the Gunners are keen on signing the Belgian, but as a result of Vieira’s imminent arrival, interest seems to have waned slightly.
According to The Express’ Ryan Taylor, reports that Tielemans was ever close to a move to Arsenal were wide of the mark. Instead, because there’s a lack of competition to sign the 24-year-old, Arsenal are focused on getting other signings over the line first, but a deal could be resurrected at a later stage.
He said on Twitter: “Never say never but Arsenal interest in Youri Tielemans has seemingly cooled. Told it’s never been as close as suggested. Given lack of other suitors & dwindling Leicester contract (expires 2023), deal could be revisited later in window. For now, he’s not of priority. #AFC.”
Although the Tielemans move looks less certain, Arsenal fans should be excited about their club’s willingness to attack the window and finally mould the squad Mikel Arteta desires.
