Arsenal have ‘reservations’ over making a move for PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo, feeling his form in the Eredivisie may not transfer to the Premier League, according to journalist Paul Brown.
Mikel Arteta was handed more than £100 million to strengthen his side during the summer window and director Edu could be readying further investment at the turn of the year.
What is the latest on Gakpo?
According to The Athletic, Arsenal are among the sides monitoring the progress of the 23-year-old and could look to secure his services in January.
The report adds that reigning European champions Real Madrid and Manchester United are other potential destinations if he is to leave PSV.
It is understood that whoever wins the race for Gakpo in January will have to spend £39 million, with the likes of Everton and Southampton still interested in sealing a deal as well.
Meanwhile, reports in Spain suggest Serie A giants AC Milan are plotting a swoop of their own for Gakpo.
What has Brown said on the situation?
Brown understands that Arsenal hold some concerns over a big-money move for Gakpo when the January window reopens.
The journalist says that the Gunners may only move for him if they can secure his services at a price they deem fit.
Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Arsenal still have some reservations that he’s playing in a league that isn’t terribly strong and we don’t know quite how he would adapt to this league. It might come down to an issue of price really. Nobody knows quite how high his team value him.”

Would Gakpo be a good signing?
The forward has made an exceptional start to the season in the Netherlands, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists in just 18 appearances.
In total, he has now bagged 55 goals in 153 appearances, embedding himself in Louis van Gaal’s plans for the Dutch national team ahead of the World Cup, earning nine caps for Oranje.
While it is understandable that Arsenal may feel he won’t transfer that form to the Premier League, it is clear Gakpo has a lot of potential and could prove a very shrewd investment.
