Arsenal have ‘opportunity’ to sign ‘world-class’ France World Cup star

Arsenal could look at Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Frenchman is out of contract next summer, and Romano believes that represents a good opportunity for the north London club and other sides across Europe.

What is the latest news involving Thuram?

Fussball Transfers (via 90min) recently claimed that both Arsenal and Liverpool have joined the race to sign Thuram.

The 25-year-old has really impressed in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 10 goals in 15 appearances for Gladbach.

It has helped him win a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the World Cup, but it is clear that the former Marseille manager is not the only person who likes what he is seeing from Thuram right now.

It will now be interesting to see whether Arsenal and Liverpool do make a move for the Gladbach star.

What has Romano said about Thuram and Arsenal?

Romano would not be surprised if Arsenal did consider Thuram but says there will be plenty of interest in him due to his contract situation.

When asked if the Gunners are one club who could target him, Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “Yes, Thuram could be an opportunity because he’s a player who will be available on a free next summer.

“He is not extending his contract and so there are many clubs interested in him from Italy, from England and from France.”

Would Thuram be a good signing for Arsenal?

He very well could be, especially on a free transfer. The France international has shown this season that he can find the back of the net.

Thuram is also quite a versatile attacker, able to play up front and on the left flank. At 6 ft 4, he is quite a presence as well, so it is easy to imagine him leading the line in the Premier League.

Speaking about Thurman last month, Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer was quoted as saying by Kicker: Thuram is a world-class striker. You have to say it like that. He has world-class stature.”

His manager Daniel Farke also said: “Marcus is in excellent shape. He has all the qualities to fill this position well. He’s still getting used to that central striker role. It’s still about running paths, but we’re working on that.”

Ultimately, considering all of the above, Thuram could be a good addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad, but there looks like there is going to be a lot of competition for his signature.
