Arsenal are “definitely” interested in signing Tammy Abraham this summer even though he’s not top of their shortlist, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
With Alexandre Lacazette out of contract in the coming weeks, Mikel Arteta is continuing his search for a replacement, and the Roma striker has been linked with a swift return to the Premier League.
What’s the latest news involving Abraham?
Arsenal’s interest in the England frontman dates back to last summer, although instead of moving across London, he chose to leave English football altogether and sign for Roma.
Since signing for the Italian giants, Abraham has been in excellent form, scoring 27 goals, to take his career total to 152, which ultimately helped Jose Mourinho’s side finish sixth in Serie A and win the Europa Conference League.
As a result, the 24-year-old finished the campaign as the joint-top English goalscorer alongside Harry Kane, which has once again caught the attention of the Gunners.
According to The Athletic, Gabriel Jesus is Arsenal’s number one striker target this summer, although Football.London believe that Abraham is also on Arteta’s list of targets for the upcoming window.
But the report states that Roma have set an asking price of £68m for his services, which Taylor reckons might be an issue for the north Londoners.
What did Taylor say about Abraham?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Definitely, I think Arsenal are interested in Abraham, but he’s not someone at the top of their shortlist.
“The reason being, they probably know that it’s not going to be a cheap operation to bring him back on the basis of his first season in Italy.”

How did Abraham perform this season?
Described by ex-Chelsea teammate Oliver Giroud as having ‘great potential‘, Abraham has enjoyed a dream first season in Rome.
In fact, Edin Dzeko, when he struck 39 times in the 2016-2017 season, is the only player to score more goals for the club in a single campaign since Francesco Totti netted 32 more than 15 years ago.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for Abraham, who only scored twice in his first 11 Serie A appearances and didn’t hit top form until after the winter break.
But from 2022 onwards, he’s been in prolific form, finding the net 13 times in the Italian top-flight, while scoring some crucial goals in Europe, including the semi-final winner against Leicester, which took his total in the Conference League to nine.
