Arsenal have agreed a new contract with star forward Bukayo Saka, according to insider Sam Cohen.
The Gunners sensation is considered to be one of the best academy talents to ever come out of the club and is a key man for Mikel Arteta’s side, having helped them to three consecutive runners-up finishes in the Premier League and pushing them to a Champions League semi-final this season.
Concerns had emerged that a lack of trophies could see top clubs look to move for the England star, who was set to enter the final two years of his contract this summer.
Arsenal ‘Agree Contract’ with Saka
Only paperwork and announcement pending
Saka’s current contract at the Emirates sees him earn £295,000-a-week and was set to expire in 2027, but journalist and insider Cohen says that a deal has now been agreed to extend his time at the club.
All that remains is for the official paperwork to be signed and an announcement to be made, but Saka is set to be in north London for a little while longer yet.
The 23-year-old winger, who has been described as “world-class” for his performances in recent seasons, has been a key player for the Gunners since breaking into the team under Unai Emery as a teenager.
A serious hamstring injury saw Saka miss three months of the season, and Arsenal fell out of the title race as a result of lacking his brilliance in attack – alongside a host of other injury problems.
He has since returned and helped the team to a stunning 5-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid in the Champions League, and will be hopeful of doing the same again in the Champions League semi-final against PSG this week.
