According to The Athletic, Manchester United will not look to extend Anthony Martial’s (28) contract beyond this season.
The French international’s contract is set to expire this summer with an option enabling the club to extend it by a further year. However, as The Athletic reports United look unlikely to activate this clause and seems willing to allow the player to leave on a free transfer.
Martial initially joined the club in 2015 from AS Monaco and for some time he looked like a transformative player for United, but ultimately his struggles with form, injuries, and the constant speculation over his future have meant in recent years he has found his playing time reduced.
The forward no longer has a starting role in England, with his appearances primarily coming via substitutions late in games.
Where Martial will end up beyond this season remains unclear but it looks apparent that almost a decade with United will come to its close.
