Álvaro Odriozola will be a Real Madrid player next season, according to Marca.
After a year on loan at Fiorentina, the player and the club have agreed on his return to the first team under Carlo Ancelotti.
Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez were the right-backs last season, but the latter has the soul of a winger and his presence at full-back has been more of an emergency solution than anything else.
With Odriozola in the squad, Madrid will have two pure right-backs, with the options that versatile players like Nacho and Lucas always provide.
Odriozola, who has a contract with Real Madrid until 30 June 2024, returns with the intention of being an important member of the squad.
So far he has been unlucky at Madrid and has not played too many minutes. In the shadow of Carvajal, he has always struggled to assert himself in defence due to a lack of opportunities.
In the 2019-20 season, he tried his luck with a loan spell at Bayern, which didn’t work out well, with very few minutes. But this past season, the loan to Italy worked and he has found the consistency he had been looking for since 2018.
