Allan Saint-Maximin (28) has returned to Al-Ahli following his loan spell in Turkey at Fenerbahçe. The Frenchman does not have fond memories of his season-long loan at the Turkish club.
Saint-Maximin has now returned to Saudi Arabia, although he has recently stated that he will “soon” return to Ligue 1. He notably revealed a desire to return to his former club, OGC Nice.
His future currently uncertain, the former Newcastle United winger spoke to streamer Zack Nani, making a strong allegation against Fenerbahçe, who he says tried to make him break doping regulations.
“With me, they went as far as to make me break doping rules, just to show how serious it is. These are things that people don’t know. You don’t speak because afterwards, you are threatened. It goes beyond football,” said Saint-Maximin.
Fenerbahçe claim Saint-Maximin is trying to ‘damage the reputation’ of the club
The Frenchman then took to social media to clarify his comments. “I see that this is going all over the place (the segment of the video in which Saint-Maximin makes the doping allegations) on Twitter, so I’ll specify what I said. I was speaking about people around the club that are ready to do anything,” he began in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He added, “In my case, when I was ill, I was almost given a treatment that is considered a doping product. I don’t know what goal this team of doctors had in doing that.”
Fenerbahçe have since responded on X. “We followed with astonishment the statements made by Saint-Maximin […] the fact that the athlete distorted the facts regarding the treatment process he underwent after a health problem he experienced is an attempt to damage the reputation of the club,” read the statement.
