According to Kicker, Alexander Nübel’s future with Bayern Munich depends on the status of the current number one Manuel Neuer.
Per the report, Bayern Munich bosses are already planning for the future and see Nübel in their plans going into the second half of the decade. The club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić said: “Of course I count Alexander Nübel among them, he’s very important in our future planning.”
However, despite the vote of confidence, Nübel has himself stated that his future in Bavarian depends on the status of the current first-choice goalkeeper, Neuer. “If Manuel is still there, I think it won’t work anymore,” explained Nübel.
The 25-year-old is currently out on loan at French side, Monaco, and is progressing well by all accounts. Just recently he earned his side a draw against PSG keeping the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé at bay.
Nübel’s contract at Bayern ends in June 2024 with fresh contract talks expected to take place in the winter. If Bayern can not convince the goalkeeper of a future first-team place, they might just lose the top talent.
