Alexander Nübel is willing to return to Bayern Munich in the summer if there is fair competition for the number one position, reports the Abendzeitung.
Since the firing of Toni Tapalovic in January, Nübel’s perspective on returning to Munich has changed. The new goalkeeping coach Michael Rechner is a fan of Nübel and appreciates the qualities the 26-year-old possesses. The firing of Tapalovic has shown that Manuel Neuer is no longer untouchable and Yann Sommer and Nübel have realistic chances of being the number one next season.
Nübel will come back to Bayern if there is fair competition for the number one spot between him, Sommer and the returning Neuer. The 26-year-old is currently waiting for Bayern to give him a signal whether he will have a chance next season.
If Neuer or Sommer are guaranteed a starting spot then Nübel will leave Bayern. Monaco would like to sign the 26-year-old permanently, while RB Leipzig have also enquired about the goalkeeper. Nübel’s priority is to hold talks with Bayern.
