Karim Adeyemi’s agent has expressed surprise at the criticism his client has faced for turning down a call-up to the German U21 national team.

Karim Adeyemi has come under fire for his decision to turn down a call-up to the German U-21 national team in order to stay at Dortmund and work on getting back into the starting lineup.
DFB President Bernd Neuendorf, among others, has criticized the decision and told ProSieben Maxx:
“I think it was a mistake. But there’s no point in forcing anyone to come here. It doesn’t help if their heart isn’t in it. The U21s are a great place to use as a springboard.”
Adeyemi’s agent, Thomas Solomon, now says the player’s entourage was “very surprised” by the DFB’s statements.
“Karim has always worn the eagle on his chest with pride – and will continue to do so,” Solomon said.
“Playing for his home country and country of birth is the greatest thing for Karim,” he added, noting that Adeyemi turned up for the Under-21s in October.
