After three years at FC St. Pauli, Dapo Afolayan is set for a new challenge.
The Bundesliga side confirmed on Sunday that the 28-year-old midfielder is leaving to join English Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers.
“It’s been a hectic couple of days. I was training at my old club, heard about the interest, and I was excited by it,” Afolayan said in an interview posted on Blackburn Rovers’ website.
“I spent three years at my old club, and our time ran its course. I was looking for an opportunity to move, continue improving, and work on my game even more.”
During his time at St. Pauli, Afolayan scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in 93 appearances.
