Atletico Madrid are pursuing the signing of a left-sided central defender, and they are hoping that David Hancko will be the man to address this void. A final offer has been submitted to Feyenoord for the Slovakian, although it’s now likely that he would not be the final signing made this summer by Los Colchoneros.
Over the summer, Atleti have submitted offers for various goalkeepers. The likes of Walter Benitez, Justin Bijlow and David Soria have been targeted, but until now, nothing has advanced. The club’s interest in a new ‘keeper will have to now, as it’s been confirmed by Matteo Moretto that Horatiu Moldovan, current backup to Jan Oblak, is close to joining Serie B side Sassuolo on a season-long loan.

Moldovan only joined in January, but earlier in the year, he expressed his desire to leave in favour of a starting position elsewhere. Atletico Madrid have been happy to oblige, although a sufficient proposal had not arrived until now. It does mean that a replacement is needed, and it will be interesting to see who is pursued by sporting director Andrea Berta.
