Serie A giants AC Milan want to sign Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson permanently this winter window, according to the Daily Mail.
The England international is also open to a move away from St. James’ Park this January.
Newcastle have already rejected a loan offer from Atletico Madrid this month, insisting that Wilson is not for sale, but with 18 months left on his deal, they could look to sell while he still has some resale value.
Wilson has been a mainstay in Eddie Howe’s team despite his battles with injuries and sharing time with Alexander Isak. He has netted seven goals in 14 league appearances this term.
Wilson had notched 18 goals last season to help Newcastle qualify for the Champions League.
Wilson remains on the sidelines after suffering a calf injury around a month ago, but Howe still wants to keep him.
However, Newcastle will be open to selling if Milan bring the right offer. The Magpies are keen to reinforce their ranks but are financially handicapped due to the Premier League’s financial rules, meaning they must sell to sign.
Newcastle chief executive Darren Eales admitted that every player has a price, and if Milan meets it, Wilson could be on his way to Serie A.
Newcastle have RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko on their shortlist to replace Wilson, but his £42 million release clause doesn’t kick in until this summer.
Apart from Wilson, Newcastle are bracing themselves for an offer for mercurial full-back Kieran Trippier.
The Newcastle captain is of interest to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. The Toons rejected loan and permanent offers for the 33-year-old over the weekend.
However, Trippier is keen on moving to Germany, meaning there is still a possibility that he will leave despite Newcastle’s reluctance.
Also, Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab have reportedly agreed a deal with Newcastle for winger Miguel Almiron.
