AC Milan closing in on Samuele Ricci transfer after improved bid

AC Milan are close to securing the signing of Samuele Ricci after holding positive talks with Torino (h/t journalist Fabrizio Romano).

Milan have been locked in negotiations for Ricci for several months, having kept a close eye on his progress in Turin.

They hope to strike a final agreement with Torino after submitting an improved offer worth €22 million plus add-ons.

Ricci has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young midfielders in Serie A, thanks to his eye-catching performances for Torino.

Widely regarded as the future of the Italian national team, the 23-year-old has a record 113 appearances with the Turin-based club.

Milan need a solid deep-lying playmaker in their ranks, and Ricci could be the answer to their prayers.

The former Empoli star dictates things from a deeper position with his varied passing range, excellent vision and press-resistance.

He is no slouch defensively, thanks to his good reading of the game and robustness.

Luka Modric’s move to the San Siro is imminent, and Milan are looking to bolster their engine room with the addition of Ricci.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri could look to build the club’s future around Ricci, who has all the tools to carve out a great career.

The Rossoneri have lined up Bayer Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka and Club Brugge’s Ardon Jashari as potential targets as part of their summer overhaul.

The Italian giants have submitted €30 million to prise Jashari away from the Belgian outfit, while Xhaka is keen on a move to Milan.

They have also been in talks for Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra, but are struggling to match their valuation.
