On his return from a middling loan spell at Leipzig – during which he was sidelined for several months with a knee injury – Abdou Diallo was effectively placed on the Paris Saint-Germin transfer list.
This pre-season, the Senegal international defender was training with the “undesirables” group, the players which the Ligue 1 champions are looking to move on, which notably includes forward Kylian Mbappé.
However, according to RMC Sport tonight, Diallo has been brought back into the main team set-up. The backroom staff have been impressed with his dedication, and new manager Luis Enrique was not against having an extra defensive option. There was an acute need for a centre-back in particular, given that new signing Lucas Hernandez will start the season at left-back while Nuno Mendes is sidelined with injury.
Diallo, who has been with PSG since 2019, could still move on this summer, though – he has been the subject of interest from Real Betis, Napoli, and Al-Arabi SC in Qatar.
