Bild reports that Bayern Munich will make a decision on Joshua Kimmich’s contract extension today (Thursday) with the supervisory board set to vote on the matter.
It is said Max Eberl and Kimmich have reached an agreement over a new contract, but the supervisory board at Bayern still need to approve the contract. In a meeting today, it will be decided whether to approve the proposed extension or not.
After Bayern’s 3-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen, Kimmich spoke on his contract situation:
“My plan was to make my decision before the international break. The club didn’t want that, which is legitimate. I appreciate that they gave me a lot of time. It was important to get off to a good start this season after a difficult last season and build a relationship with each other again. The club now wanted to have a decision before the two games against Leverkusen. For me the injury complicated things a bit, without going into details. But there will be a decision soon. I don’t know if it will be between both legs [against Leverkusen], but it will definitely be before the international break at the latest”
Yesterday it was reported by Sky Germany, that PSG have made an offer for Kimmich once his contract expires in the summer. The offer is a contract until 2029, but it has yet to be accepted or rejected by the 30-year-old.
The situation regarding Kimmich’s contract has been a saga for around a week after it was revealed that Bayern had withdrawn the proposed contract extension offer to the midfielder.
It is entirely likely that this saga was all for nothing and Kimmich will extend his contract at the Allianz Arena.
