According to Abendzeitung, it is likely that Benjamin Pavard will now receive a contract extension at Bayern Munich after his upturn in performances as of late.
Both Pavard and Bayern want to continue beyond 2024 which comes as a u-turn as in the winter, Pavard was open about moving away from Bayern this coming summer. The 26-year-old joined Bayern in 2019 from VfB Stuttgart for €35 million.
The arrival of João Cancelo in the winter questioned the future of Pavard but since Bayern have switched to a three-at-the-back system, it has allowed the 26-year-old to play in his favoured position at centre-back instead of at right-back. In this formation, he flourished in Bayern’s 1-0 win against PSG in Paris before he was sent off.
Pavard has played 31 times for Bayern, scoring six and assisting once this season. His upturn in form was showcased at the weekend when he scored twice in Bayern’s 5-3 win against Augsburg.
