Mats Hummels is entering the final month of his contract and is yet to make a decision on his future. Speaking ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s final Bundesliga games of the season, against Darmstadt, Edin Terzić stated that they will make a decision after the Champions League final on June 1.
“We will make the decision together after the Champions League final. If Mats doesn’t change his mind, we will stick to this plan.” – Edin Terzić.
Hummels has played 38 games across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season, and has excelled in 2024. Picking up the Man of the Match Award in both Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain, many were certain that there was a place for the 35-year-old in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad for Euro 2024, but that wasn’t the case.
Speaking on the non-nomination of Hummels, Terzić added: “I noticed that the decision affected him but he has assured me that we would do everything we can to achieve our big goal [of winning the Champions League]. He absolutely deserved to be at the European Championship.”
