West Ham United agree £35 million deal for Gianluca Scamacca as Chelsea stall with Armando Broja

West Ham United are on the cusp of a £35 million deal for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to the Telegraph.

Per the report, the Hammers have swooped in for the Italian striker, having grown increasingly frustrated in their talks with Chelsea over a move for 20-year-old Armando Broja.

While David Moyes’ side are keen on a move for the Albanian international, the Blues are reluctant to give up their man, who burst onto the scene following an impressive loan spell with Southampton last season.

Speaking on Broja’s links to West Ham, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said: “I don’t expect him to leave.

“We are aware of interest and offers, which just tells us there is a lot of potential, and the owners and me will take this decision together in the end, also with the player.”

West Ham United have now turned their sights to Scamacca and are reportedly set to secure his services after reaching an agreement with Sassuolo over a deal worth up to £35m.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a sensational break-out campaign in the Serie A last term, racking up 16 goals in 35 appearances to help Alessio Dionisi’s side secure an 11th-placed finish in the standings.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are also firm admirers of the Italian forward but opted against a move due to Sassuolo’s price demands.

Gianluca Scamacca will mark the last arrival at the London Stadium following the signing of defender Nayef Aguerd, midfielder Flynn Downes and former PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

Scamacca has made 41 appearances for Sassuolo across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and setting up one, while he has featured for the Italian national team on six occasions since his debut in September 2021.
