An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid for on-loan attacker Samu Omorodion has this weekend been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and points towards the youngster as being in line for an opportunity to prove his talents to Diego Simeone and co.
Amid the intense competition for places in the frontline at the Wanda Metropolitano, Omorodion was farmed out on loan last summer, when he linked up with Alavés for the duration of the campaign.
And, safe to say, the move has since proven to be an altogether fruitful one.
Across 29 appearances (20 starts) in Alavés’ colours to date, the 19-year-old has racked up a none-too-shabby eight goals.
Such production has given rise to inevitable speculation when it comes to Omorodion’s future, amid understandable interest in his signature across Spain and beyond.
The attacker, for his part, has long been clear when it comes to his desire to succeed in the colours of Atlético, though.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, Omorodion could be afforded a chance at precisely that, as early as next season.
As per the aforementioned MD, the intention at Atlético Madrid is to integrate their on-loan starlet into the club’s pre-season setup in Spain’s capital.
From here, his readiness to contribute for the 2024/25 campaign will be decided upon.
Should Omorodion be deemed as still too raw, the likelihood is that he will be sent out on loan for another season, with no intention on the part of Atléti as things stand to part with the young Spaniard on a permanent basis.
