Bayer Leverkusen fans lined up in their thousands on the now aptly named Xabi-Alonso-Allee. Of course, Bismarckstraße is the official name, but try telling that to Die Werkself fans as they hope to see their team crowned Bundesliga champions with a win against Werder Bremen today.
Fans gathered around the BayArena four hours prior to kick-off. On a day where the temperatures were nearly hitting 20 degrees, the Bayer fans were boisterous as they welcomed the team bus, who are on the verge of their first ever Meisterschale.

Changes aplenty for Bayer Leverkusen
Perhaps with Thursday’s Europa League game against West Ham in mind, Alonso made seven changes to the starting eleven that will face Ole Werner’s Werder Bremen. Notably, Victor Boniface starts for the first time since his adductor injury. The Nigerian forward scored Leverkusen’s second goal against West Ham in midweek to give his side a 2-0 lead heading into the second-leg.
