RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has today confirmed that the Bundesliga side have reached an agreement with Ajax for the sale of Brian Brobbey (20).
“I can say that we reached an agreement with Ajax today and Brian Brobbey will leave us, unfortunately. Of course, he’s a highly talented player but we have a very good squad in attack,” Mintzlaff told Servus TV.
Leipzig will receive a fee of around €20m for Brobbey, who joined the Bundesliga side last summer on a free transfer from Ajax, before he returned to the Eredivisie side on a six-month loan in January – the Dutchman scored seven in 11 league games on his return to Ajax.
During his time at Leipzig, Brobbey played just 124 minutes of Bundesliga football, creating two goals, but never was in the plans of Jesse Marsch of his successor, Domenico Tedesco.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United also showed interest in hijacking Ajax’s deal for Brobbey, who only had a desire to return to his former club.
