Borussia Dortmund will be without Marcel Sabitzer when they host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Westfalenstadion on Sunday afternoon after the Austrian was sent off against Werder Bremen last weekend.
Julian Brandt, who started against Werder, should start in a deeper role alongside Emre Can, which could mean a start for Marco Reus, who didn’t feature in Dortmund’s wins against Union Berlin and Bremen. But should Edin Terzic opt for Felix Nmecha ahead of Reus, expect Brandt to play in his favoured No. 10 role.
Defensively, Mats Hummels – who will serve a one match suspension upon picking up his next yellow card – should return to the starting lineup and with Julian Ryerson not in the matchday squad due to injury, Niklas Süle will shift along to right-back, allowing Hummels to play alongside Nico Schlotterbeck.
Sébastien Haller is also another player not in the matchday squad with the Ivorian forward working his way back from an ankle injury picked up in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Gregor Kobel – Niklas Süle, Mats Hummels, Nico Schlotterbeck, Ian Maatsen – Emre Can, Julian Brandt – Donyell Malen, Marco Reus, Jadon Sancho – Niclas Füllkrug
