Bayern Munich will have to do without Leon Goretzka on their USA tour and for the opening fixtures of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season. According to Florian Plettenberg, the German central-midfielder underwent an operation on his left knee and will be out for around six to eight weeks.
The 27-year-old was unable to take part in the final training session on Monday morning before Bayern left for the US. Goretzka played 27 games across all competitions for Bayern last season.
However, someone that will meet up with the Bayern squad on their US tour is Matthijs de Ligt (22). Bayern and Juventus reached a total agreement for the Dutchman on Sunday night and is expected to arrive in Munich this evening. De Ligt will then undergo a medical before signing a five-year contract until 2027 and will then meet up with his new teammates in Washington DC on Tuesday evening.
