Waldemar Anton is a big doubt for Stuttgart’s clash with Union Berlin. Deniz Undav is making progress after returning from a muscle injury, but VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness won’t guarantee that the striker will be in the starting eleven.

VfB Stuttgart are sweating over the fitness of captain Waldemar Anton ahead of their Bundesliga clash with Union Berlin on Friday night.
The centre-back is struggling with a thigh problem that could very likely keep him out of the game.
“The tendency is that Waldi won’t play. He was only able to take part in parts of the team training. The decision will be made tomorrow,” said VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß at a press conference on Thursday.
Hoeness also gave an update on Deniz Undav, who made his return from a muscle injury as a substitute against Wolfsburg last week.
“He came through the training week without any problems. However, Deniz has had some muscle problems lately. If he’s at 100%, he’s an option for the starting eleven. If he’s not, it’s up to me whether he comes off the bench,” the VfB head coach said.
