Why Real Madrid-linked Kylian Mbappé is in Barcelona

An insight into the reasoning behind Kylian Mbappé’s recent trip to Barcelona has been forthcoming online.

The name of frontman Mbappé, of course, has taken its place centre stage in the Spanish media headlines over the course of the last week.

This comes after the 25-year-old informed long-time employers Paris Saint-Germain of his decision not to renew his expiring contract.

La Liga giants Real Madrid, in turn, have been afforded the opportunity to strike a deal for a player who has been in their sights for the best part of half a decade.

And, if the latest word doing the rounds in the press is anything to go by, an agreement being reached between the two parties, on the terms of a pre-contract, is all but guaranteed.

Safe to say, then, that news of Real’s next incoming ‘Galactico’ being spotted in the city of their fiercest rivals has come as quite the surprise this week.

Mbappé, for his part, was spotted in Barcelona on Tuesday, sparking an almost inevitable media frenzy surrounding a potential last-minute Blaugrana swoop for his signature.

The truth, however, is far less headline-grabbing.

As revealed by Diario Sport, the prolific attacker is simply enjoying a short vacation in Catalunya at present.

After being afforded a two-day break by PSG boss Luis Enrique, Mbappé and close friend Achraf Hakimi decided to make use of as much with a trip to the beautiful city that is Barcelona.

The pair have in turn been spotted out seeing the sights, as well as paying a visit to the famed Botafumeiro restaurant – an establishment frequented by none other than Barca president Joan Laporta.
