The powers that be at French giants Paris Saint-Germain are keen to delay the official announcement of star performer Kylian Mbappé’s impending exit for as long as possible.
That’s according to Cadena SER, who have today provided a fresh insight into the situation.
It is of course now common knowledge across the world of football that frontman Mbappé is set for a change of scene with a view to next season.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming in the media this week, that the 25-year-old has informed the board at the Parc des Princes of his decision not to renew his expiring contract.
As much has opened the door for La Liga leaders Real Madrid to swoop once more, with Florentino Pérez and his transfer team in Spain’s capital expected to seal a pre-contract agreement with Mbappé any day now.
And yet, despite the writing being very much on the wall for all at PSG, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are ready to delay any type of formal announcement regarding the exit of their long-time talisman for the coming weeks, or potentially even months.
As per the aforementioned SER, the Parisians do not want to make Mbappé’s exit official until either they, or Real Madrid, have been eliminated from this season’s Champions League.
With the France international desperate to spearhead PSG’s first-ever triumph in the continent’s elite club competition before moving on, Nasser Al-Khelaifi and co. want to assure that as few distractions as possible stand in the way of such endeavours.
Not only that, but they are keen to avoid the embarrassment that would come with being sent packing by none other than Real Madrid.
