As reported by Le Progrès, Saint-Étienne midfielder Mahdi Camara has told the recently relegated club he wants to leave this summer transfer window following play-off defeat to Auxerre last month.
Les Verts new coach Laurent Batlles, who took Troyes back to Ligue 1 ahead of last season, has explained that, in individual discussions, multiple players have told him they wish to leave rather than face a season in Ligue 2. Camara is one of those players, say the local paper. However, sporting director, and club legend, Loïc Perrin won’t be looking to sell the club’s assets at a cut price as a result.
English, Italian and German clubs are monitoring the 24-year-old midfielder and could soon move for the player who graduated the club’s youth system and has played 101 times for the senior side since, scoring nine times and adding four assists. A defensive midfielder by trade, the player has also been used in the full-back areas and occasionally at centre-back in recent times.
