Chelsea target Cristiano Ronaldo making the switch to Stamford Bridge would be a strange decision from the Manchester United ace, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The 37-year-old has expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford following United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League and has been linked with a shock move to Stamford Bridge.
What’s the latest news involving Ronaldo?
According to The Times, the forward wants to leave the Red Devils less than 12 months after making a sensational return.
Ronaldo, who by no means disgraced himself after 24 goals in all competitions, was left disappointed by the club’s sixth place finish and wants to continue playing amongst Europe’s elite, something he’s done for the best part of 20 years.

As a result, Chelsea are considering making a sensational move for the Premier League legend, who’s scored 102 goals in England’s top-flight, with United prepared to listen to offers for his services.
This comes after The Athletic reported last month that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly had met with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, with a shock switch to west London amongst the topics that were spoken about.
Bayern Munich have also been linked with the Portugal international, but chief executive Oliver Kahn all-but ended their interest in the attacker by stating that he would ‘not fit into our philosophy‘.
What did Jones say about Ronaldo?
Despite Chelsea being able to offer Champions League football, Jones would be surprised to see Ronaldo jump ship at United so quickly after returning.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I would be surprised if Ronaldo was to walk away from United and go to Chelsea just because it’s Champions League football.
“The whole point he went back to Man United was because he wanted to help them get back to where they were and at the stage of his career where he could give something back to that team and bring through a new set of players. And after one year he’s going to walk away and join Chelsea? That would seem a bit of a funny one to me, but I’m not going to rule it out.”

Would Ronaldo be a good signing for Chelsea?
Despite Ronaldo not offering the same blistering pace that he once did, he remains one of the most reliable goal getters in football.
Even during what was generally considered a below-par season by his own high standards, the ex-Real Madrid and Juventus star still scored 18 Premier League goals, which was bettered only by Heung Min Son and Mohamed Salah, who shared the Golden Boot.
Ronaldo also continued to shine on Champions League stage, notching six goals in seven appearances, including in each of his group stage outings to help United reach the knockouts.
