RC Lens have officially announced that Franck Haise has stepped down as their General Manager to focus instead on his role as the team’s head coach.
Haise took on the dual role at Lens following his contract extension with the club in 2022. The former midfielder signed a deal that would see him remain as the Lens manager until the end of the 2024/25 season, while also becoming the side’s General Manager.
This new position would see Haise balance the responsibilities he had held as the first team manager since 2020 while also answering for the side’s infrastructure projects and their burgeoning women’s team. However, as noted in the communiqué, this was a decision borne out of necessity.
Around the time of his contract extension, the club was in flux behind the scenes as Florent Ghisolfi left to become OGC Nice’s sporting director, and this instability led to Haise stepping into the new role to provide a steadying hand.
However, recent developments at the club have allowed Haise to return to a more familiar role, as he will now refocus his attention fully on managing the men’s side, and will look to steer the team back into the European places.
