Tottenham attempt to hijack Barcelona deal for Lucas Bergvall

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing highly-coveted Djurgardens wonderkid Lucas Bergvall, according to the Daily Mail.

The 17-year-old Swedish sensation was on the brink of a move to Barcelona for a reported fee of £8.5 million, but Spurs are now looking to potentially hijack the deal.

Despite being earmarked for a move to the Camp Nou, Bergvall has garnered attention from several top clubs across Europe, with Manchester United among those expressing interest. The young midfielder had even undergone trials with the Red Devils at the age of 14.

Bergvall has garnered attention for his box-to-box ability after an incredible debut in the Swedish first division, contributing to a 3-1 victory against his former club, Brommapojkarna.

His technical finesse and exceptional passing ability have earned him recognition, with an innate ability to place his teammates in dangerous positions.

In addition, his defensive acumen has seen him intervene at crucial moments. He is adept at intercepting opposition attacks.

Having secured his place in the Djurgardens line-up, Bergvall made his first start in May, playing a pivotal role in a 1-0 win against Hacken.

Across 28 appearances in midfield, he showcased his versatility, scoring three goals and affirming his status as one of the most promising talents in European football.

Bergvall’s rise to prominence has been swift, culminating in a senior international debut for Sweden earlier this January.

The 17-year-old made a memorable appearance, contributing 31 minutes to Sweden’s 2-1 victory over Estonia.

Bergvall’s journey has been remarkable, but he has a tough decision ahead of him. He has to choose between a move to exciting Premier League side Tottenham and a transfer to unstable La Liga giants Barcelona.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg looks set to stay at the club beyond this window. Although, it is unclear if it will affect their rumoured push for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.
