As reported by Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, VfL Wolfsburg are interested in Union Berlin forward Kevin Behrens.
The 32-year-old’s contract with Union runs out this summer, and there is currently no sign of a possible contract extension just yet.
Wolfsburg have not started 2024 in the manner in which they would have hoped. From their opening three games against Mainz 05, Heidenheim, and FC Köln, the Wolves have only collected a total of 3 points (three consecutive 1-1 draws).
What’s more, having only scored 23 goals in 19 Bundesliga matches, the Autostadt team are clearly lacking a cutting edge.
Head coach Niko Kovač is under pressure and has identified Behrens as a possible solution. If Union are planning without him next season, this window will be the last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for him.
No agreement has been reached, with the deadline fast approaching this Thursday.
