Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has reached a verbal agreement to join newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
Negotiations between the two London clubs are ongoing as Leno enters the final year of his contract. Arsenal want around £11m for Leno, who has agreed to sign a three-year contract with an option to extend by a further year.
Currently in Herzogenaurach with Arsenal ahead of their pre-season friendly against FC Nürnberg, Leno wants to join Fulham as he looks for regular football in an effort to strengthen his chances in making Hansi Flick’s World Cup squad. Leno played just four Premier League games for Arsenal last season following the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.
Speaking in June, Leno’s agent, Joannis Koukoutrigas, confirmed that Fulham were interested in signing the German goalkeeper: “Yes, Fulham is trying hard to get Bernd. Very professionally. This is also true for some other clubs and shows his status but as I said, for me he is the No. 1 at Arsenal and we are therefore also relaxed.”
