As had been rumored for some days, former German youth and current Kosovo international Florent Muslija will be joining SC Freiburg from 2. Bundesliga outfit SC Paderborn 07. Any questions as to whether the 25-year-old would be arriving on a January transfer or a free this summer were laid to rest in the midfielder’s roll out on Wednesday evening.
The Achern-native will bolster the Breigauer midfield immediately. Germany’s Kicker Magazine reports that Freiburg have secured Muslija’s services for a fee of around €1 million. Terms of the players new contract with his new top flight side were not divulged. Paderborn issued a statement congratulating Muslija on “making the most of his opportunity with the club”.
“Florent is a versatile attacking player who can play both wing positions as well as in the center,” SCF personnel boss Jochen Saier added in a club statement, “He has played at a consistently good level in the second division for a long time and is now ready for the next step. We are absolutely delighted that he has made such a clear commitment to SC and are very happy about the transfer.”
“I was already able to experience the great atmosphere at Europa-Park Stadium during the cup match in the autumn,” Muslija himself added, “Now I’m looking forward to getting to know my new teammates, developing further here, and giving my all for the Sport-Club.”
