Werder Bremen enter negotiations for Lyon’s Skelly Alvero

France’s preeminent sporting publication is currently reporting that Bundesliga side SV Werder Bremen competing with EFL Championship club Sunderland A.F.C. for Olympique Lyon defensive midfielder.

Previously linked with Borussia Mönchengladbach over the summer, Olympique Lynonnais defensive midfielder is now apparently being targeted by Hanseatic city state side SV Werder Bremen. France’s preeminent sporting publication, L’Équipe, claims that Werder have tendered an offer to the Ligue 1 outfit. Bremen seek to acquire the 21-year-old on loan with a purchase option.

No German footballing media sources are confirming L’Équipe’s report at this time. The Hanseaten are known to be in the market for another defensive midfielder, particularly after offloading Nicolai Rapp to Karlsruhe earlier today. A Japanese publication claimed over the weekend that Werder have also submitted an offer for Japanese national team midfielder Kaishu Sano.

The French report does note that Werder are facing competition from EFL Championship side Sunderland A.F.C. The Black Cats may serve as a more attractive destination for the Lyon summer signing, who will be looking to secure as much playing time as possible after barely featuring for his his new French first division side this year.
