Belgium’s Flemish daily “Het Nieuwsblad” reports that VfL Bochum are interested in acquiring former FC Schalke 04 and Fortuna Düsseldorf striker Benito Raman. Some two-and-a-half years after FC Schalke 04 sold the attacker to RSC Anderlecht in his native Belgium, the 29-year-old finds himself Anderlecht’s dead-weight ledger on an expiring contract. The Belgian daily does report that there are several other interested parties.
In an interview with the “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung” (WAZ) in November, Raman expressed an interest in returning to the Bundesliga. In three seasons spent playing in the top flight for Schalke and Düsseldorf, the once-capped Belgian international struck 16 tallies in Germany’s first division. With an estimated market value of €1.5 million, Bochum could pick up some economical assistance in attack.
