The recently returned Austrian also commented on the unintentional assist he registered and an apparent injury that led to him being subbed off late.
“I don’t understand it either,” said Sasa Kalajdzic responded when his Sky interviewer when pressed for an explanation, “I think we were clearly dominant for 70 minutes. We didn’t really concede anything. We just stopped playing football and completely lost our grip.”
“Darmstadt improved, but you can’t just give a [2-0] lead like that away,” Kalajdzic continued, “It comes down to us. It was simply dumb. I too felt that we were going to win and then suddenly we shit ourselves.”
Kalajdzic also answered questions about the assist he garnered on Ansgar Knauff’s 2-0 in the 51st. The Wolverhampton loanee got back on a Bundesliga scoresheet with an unintentional flick on for Knauff. The lanky striker admitted he wanted to shoot himself, joking that it ended up being the “perfect assist”.
Kalajdzic downplayed the scene.
“I just took a step that didn’t feel right,” Kalajdzic noted, “I’m not feeling as if a joint is loose or something. It shouldn’t be anything too serious.”
