Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly found a taker for one of the players they wished to offload this January within the Bundesliga. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg confirms reports emanating from various sources that FC Augsburg are willing to take Croatian midfielder Kristijan Jakic off the SGE’s hands. Plettenberg claims a six-month loan with a €5 million purchase option is in the works.
Eintracht themselves once exercised a purchase clause on Jakic following a loan-stint during the 2021/22 campaign. The former Dinamo Zagreb professional has contested 54 league matches for the RheinMain Adler over the last three seasons. Injury issues within the squad frequently left him fired to fill in as a central defender. Appearances declined over the next two seasons.
The German Eagles appear to have no real use for Jakic in his natural defensive midfield position anymore. He’s made just eight appearances across all competitions this season, earning just one start under the head-coaching regime of Dino Toppmöller. Jakic’s estimated market worth peaked at €9 million in November of 2022. At present, he’s valued at just over a third of that in the latest transfermarkt update.
